Spot on treatments, also known as topical treatments, are a common way to deal with flea infestations on dogs and cats. But the inclusions of different active ingredients mean they can treat other parasites as well.
Revolution (Selamectin)andAdvantage (Imidacloprid) are both monthly topical treatments that protect your pet against adult fleas, killing them before they can lay eggs.
In addition, Revolution provides month-long protection against heartworm, ticks and ear mites. It controls sarcoptic mange in dogs, and prevents hookworms and roundworms in cats.
Advantage treats lice in dogs only, and does not kill ticks.
Revolution is recommended for use in dogs at least 6 weeks of age, and cats at least 8 weeks of age.Advantage may be used on dogs and cats as young as 8 weeks of age, and is tested as being safe for use on pregnant or nursing dogs and cats.
As with all pet parasite treatments, please weigh your pet and ensure that you use the correct product for their size.
