Uses of Indoxacarb
Indoxacarb is a broad-spectrum insecticide used to control fleas in dogsandcats. It is also indicated for the control of flea allergy dermatitis.
Method of application
External application, supplied as a topical/spot-on solution.
Dosage and administration
Indoxacarb is available in both canine and feline formulas, with the dosage based on the animal’s body weight. Ensure that you weigh your pet and only use the product on the species for which it is intended.
Topical solutions should be administered as indicated by the instructions on the product package. This will provide maximum efficacy and will help to ensure the product is applied in a position where the animal cannot lick it off.
A single dose of Indoxacarb will kill existing fleas within 24 hours and will provide residual protection against adult and immature fleas for at least four weeks. Indoxacarb should not be administered more than once per month.
Indoxacarb remains effective on dogs even after shampooing or swimming, but dogs should not be allowed to swim or be treated with shampoo for 48 hours after treatment. The water fastness of Indoxacarb on cats has not been established.
Possible side effects
Transient skin irritation, hair loss or hair clumping may occur at the site of application.
Animals that lick the application site immediately after treatment may experience increased salivation. This is not a sign of intoxication and should disappear within several minutes.
Adverse reactions in animals treated with Indoxacarb may include squinting, head shaking, salivation, and scratching or rubbing the site of application or the face.
Additional reported side effects in cats licking the product include gastrointestinal and neurological signs.
