Manufacturer Merial produce two of the top spot-on flea treatments for dogs and cats: Frontline Plus and Frontline Gold. So how do the two products compare?
The key difference between the Frontline Plus and the newer Frontline Gold is the speed at which the treatment begins to take effect. Frontline Gold begins killing fleas within 30 minutes, while Frontline Plus may take up to 4 hours to start working.
So, with the added benefits that Frontline Gold provides, why would you use Frontline Plus? Frontline Gold contains an additional active ingredient (Pyriproxyfen) and if you have any concerns about your pet’s sensitivity to this ingredient, you may be better using Frontline Plus.
Both products may be used on pets from 8 weeks of age, dependent on weight. However, you must use the correct product for your pet - Frontline Plus or Frontline Gold for dogs should never be used on cats.
